A couple of months ago I received Patchwork Please, as hoped, for my birthday. I was super excited and loved all the gorgeous ideas and patterns in it, especially as I'd heard and read many great things about it!
I almost immediately set about making this pencil case as a "returning to uni" gift.
However, perhaps I need to go back to uni, because I did not find the instructions smooth sailing...and I have sewn one or two things in recent years. Is it just me?
I got there in the end, and am delighted with the final result.
It's a wee bit small though, but you can probably manage to fit a few highlighters or maybe other random stuff in there. I love the pencils and thought them very appropriate...though they will need a few sharpenings before they'll fit in!
What's your experience with this gorgeous book? Or do you have recommendations on treasure-trove-must-own-project-books or any not-on-your-lemon-do-you-want-to-go-there books?
Share share!
Hope you're all having a happy sunshiny week!

That is super dooper cuteness I love it and it looks amazing to me !! !! !!
ReplyDeleteThat's very cute! i could totally use one of those for a pencil case at work! Especially love the musical score fabric!
ReplyDeleteOne of the coolest "pencil" cases I have ever seen! I love your perfect little hand stitches around the edges. Devine. Xx
ReplyDeleteI love the colours you have chosen for this. I have that book too and made the sewing kit and the pin cushion. They turned out really nicely in the end, but I must admit I didn't find the instructions super easy to follow!
ReplyDeleteit looks amazing - what a gorgeous design - having said that if you found the instructions difficult to follow I can only imagine they must be tough going, I haven't seen you falter on a multitude of complex patterns across different crafts. One of my all time favourite crafty books would be Jane Brockett's the gentle art of quilt making -not that I have made the quilts I just love the way she writes and combines fabrics. I'd pick up anything of hers for the delight of reading it.
ReplyDeleteI love that book too - again I have not made any of them. I love her use of colour and print, and her way of writing.
DeleteOh Man! this is the best pencil case I have seen for like ever!!!! Love it! :))
ReplyDeleteLove the pencil case and pencils!
ReplyDeleteSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO amazing! Clever you!
ReplyDeleteLove the pencil case - teeny tiny piecing in that. Bigger would look awesome. Do that pattern up by 300% and make it into a cover for a tablet.
ReplyDeleteIt may have been a struggle but the end result is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove this!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this pencil case and the details on it. I like Karen's suggestion about the tablet cover, it would look amazing on a bigger scale. I don't have any craft book recommendations, will be noting down what other people have enjoyed flicking through though.
ReplyDeleteI have just finished reading Quiltopedia by Laura Jane Taylor and have just purchased Beyond Neutral by John Q Adams. I usually get the books from my library first and then order if I really like them.
