Show & Tell: Stitching Stitching

Happy Thursday!
Show & Tell Thursday's

How're you all doing?  Ticking along happily or starting to panic just a little about December looming?  Hopefully it's a happy and controlled panic!

A sweet friend gave me a copy of Cath Kidston's Stitch! a few months ago, lucky me aye?

The project included was this wee stitched pouch.  Nothing too onerous and a relatively quick wee project, it was completed, lined, filled with special soaps and goodies and became a birthday gift for hubby's Oma.

I'm looking forward to trying out some of the other awesome projects in this book in time!

Have you made anything from Stitch or any other awesome project books?  Would love to hear about/see it!

Looking forward to having you guys link up this week : )
Have a happy day!

Show & Tell - A Hand Embroidery

Hello there lovely people,

Show & Tell Thursday's

For Mother's Day earlier this year, we gave my MIL this hoop.  When we visit, she always tries to take an outline of the grandchildren's hands as a keepsake, a record, and something that she remembers from her childhood.

So when thinking about gifts for mothers day this idea popped into my head - I'm pretty sure I've seen it done before, but was none-the-less pretty happy to have thought of it!

Three little girls' hands outlined in their favourite colours - it was very well received, yay!  I loved working on it  and will have to make some time to do one for our family before they get much bigger!

The winner of last month's great $40 PaperVine giveaway is...Miriam!  Congrats Miriam - I'll be in touch soon with the details : )

As for July's giveaway - I hope to be back very soon with a confirmed prize from another great shop.  In the meantime link up and lets keep encouraging each other!  Also make sure you pop over to the Matariki Crafting Linky - some great things being created there too!

Thanks for dropping in Lovelies - have a fab rest of the week!

Show & Tell - A Hexie Hoop

Happy Thursday!

Show & Tell Thursday's

A lovely lady had a birthday not so long ago. She is super talented and likes hexies and orange... so an idea started forming...

I saw this pin a long long time ago and really loved it. So made my orange and aqua version.

There is something adorable about hexies to me, not to mention very satisfying to work with!

Dont forget the amazeballs prize this month!  2 balls of each of the six solid colours of Skeinz's Moody Hues yarn range - worth $90!!! This is a delicious Merino, Alpaca & Possum blend that is soft and warm and comes in random colours and soon 8 solid colours. All you have to do is link up at least once during the month to be in the draw : ).

What sort of projects do you always enjoy working on? Looking forward to seeing this weeks' inspiring creations.

Show & Tell - A Mouse House

Happy Thursday Everyone,

Show & Tell Thursday's

The blogesphere has been buzzing with posts of the great Around the Table Bloggers Conference in Christchurch last weekend.  What a weekend! Filled with amazing women and warm hearts. The team did a fantastic job of hosting, directing and entertaining 60+ women from around the country (insert lots of wild clapping and cheering here :) ).

We were all assigned a name-badge-and-gift swap partner and I was paired with Megan from Mousehouse...  To say I was a little daunted would be an understatement!  And when I met her... she is so so lovely and I was in such awe meeting one of my crafty icons I could barely get a word out!

My brain worked through lots of ideas for an original name badge that would capture Megan and her blog.  Some were pretty involved and some were simple but none were right... and then I stumbled on to a very cute picture on Pinterest...  I wasn't quite sure of how I was going to make it work but I had to - a little mouse in a house.  I tried to choose colours that Megan would like and pieced a little quilt for the mouse.

The 'name' part: Simple embroidery on linen, with a cotton backing for stability, in different stitches and colours, glued onto the front of the tin.

But how to attach it? A pin might not hold? It may start pulling at her clothes?  So I settled for a tie around her neck, that would make it adjustable too.  A loop was glued to the back of the tin for the tie to pass through.

My girls (and I) loved the little mouse in her house and I think Megan did too.  And so did one or two others  as I won a prize for it! Very humbling as the name tags made were gorgeous!  There may be more little mouses in houses in my future : )

The wonderful April giveaway is sponsored by the great ladies at More Than Fabric and the winner can choose a set of fat quarters from one of these two ranges! Delicious fabric, isn't it?

So here we go ladies... time to show us what wonderful and inspiring creations you've been making!
Cant wait to see!

Show and Tell - Paint and Paste

Why hello there Thursday!

Show & Tell Thursday's

I think we're almost at the end of the Birthday items but today I'm sharing one (possibly) last related item with you.

For party favours I wanted to do something different - something fun, useful, personal and that would last.  Enter chalkboard clipboards.

The next couple of days were spent getting some help from pinterest, sourcing foolscap sized plan clipboards and some blackboard paint;
Tip: tie the clips back to make painting underneath easier.

painting (2x coats), playing around with paper and modge-podging;

playing with ribbons, trims and glue;

priming the board (by rubbing chalk all over it, then wiping with a dry cloth);

and lastly writing messages.

Each one had a collection of activities on it.  All rainbow and coloured themed - maizes  colouring pages from awesome designer Tinch, paper people, etc.

Each child got to choose one and take it home.  There were neutral and boy themed boards and pictures among all the girly ones, so none of the boys had to settle for pink or flowers or birds!

Dont forget the giveaway for March is this entertaining book: The New Zealand Woman.  An 80 year visual history of NZ fashion, food, home and of course women. In addition the winner can pick one (or two or three) patterns to the combined/total value of $10 on Craftsy!
The New Zealand Woman cover

Thanks for stopping in today and I'm looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things you've been up to!
Have a happy day!

Show & Tell - Oldschool

Hi and welcome back!

Show & Tell Thursday's

It's a bit of a birthday week on the blog and today the trend continues...

Being a crafty creative birthday I wanted to do something a little different for the invitations.  Cue a lot of brain-wracking...  and then finally settling on a fortune teller/cootie catcher.

A few hours spent on the computer rendered the layout complete.  Printing and folding came next.

Next, a little girl and her friends who thought this was pretty nifty : )

Oldschool and fun!

This is the last day for entry into the February giveway.  Gorgeous Grace Taylor paper pack and pockets - ideal for everything from scrap-booking to dolls-house makeovers!  Everyone who has linked up during February is in the draw.

Thanks for stopping by and I'm looking forward to seeing what you've all been making!
