Little Treasures

We found these little treasures at the oppy recently...

This one is destined to be pulled apart and repainted into a special little treasure box.

This one was just too cute to leave - a little pail, a pot, a vessel of sorts... it's been used plenty in the girls play.

What wee delights have you found lately?
Do tell!

Once upon a time there was a Zebra and a Sheep

They languished away in forlorn days at an opshop... who would love them? Who would care?

Ahha!  A Zebra lover and friends stumbled across our little Zebra and it was love at first sight... never shall they part!

Lambie rose to comfort a crying and miserable hot tired girl...all others have been forsaken in favour of our beloved Lambie...never shall they part!

Needless to say bonds were cemented after a number of washes...
The couples were simply meant to be : )

Same, Same, Same

I know it seems all I have to show for my op-shopping ventures are sheets and blankets... but I assure you I do actually look for other things too! And occasionally stumble upon unexpected treasures...

However this week I have more of the same old to show you - gorgeous retro sheets!

3x single sheets and in great condition.  I wasn't sure about the colours initially but have bonded with them in the meantime and now I love the greeny-bluey hues.  And I've thought of the perfect use for one of them too - but that might be a while coming :)

What treasures have you found lately?
Have a great Tuesday :)

Ze Stripey Horse {and a giveaway!}

While randomly wandering around the sally store recently, I spotted a dash of black and white stripes... hidden behind old framed prints..

I moved them aside to discover this awesome wee matted, and quality produced print!  Still in original plastic packaging and not a single ding on it!

As you may or may not know by now... we have a very big Zebra lover in this house... so I left the shop with my treasure.

Later that evening I looked up the artist, Tony Cribb.   Within moments I was fan of his work - quirky, clever and amusing.   Maybe you've come across his work before?  Anyone familiar with Tin Man? Tony is a Christchurch local and a very friendly chap.  Hang on a minute you say...how do I know he's "nice"?

Well, that's because he is giving one of you guys a Framed 17x17cm Ze Stripey Horse Print (worth $50)!!

More sheety goodness

The oppies haven't held much good fortune for me since the last crazy blanket blitz.  But then last week... whoop!
Aren't they awesome!?

The yellow ones are single sized and quite thin in the middle sections but plenty of bright goodness to be utilised around it!

And these blue ones... doubles and in good condition... they make me happy :)

One for you, one for me, one for her, one for...

Ok so I may have gone a little blanket crazy... but after never, not ever finding a single blanket until that first time... there may or may not have been a bit of an influx...

On one trip I found these two...

Then a few weeks ago I found 6!

And last week this one...

But! I have purchased some of them for others too as I couldn't bare to leave any behind after the drought in that department.  So I wont keep them all to myself but man I was pretty happy about finding them!

Have you had a tidal wave of goodies?

Finally a pretty blanket

This is the last awesome item I found that day at the Sally Store...

A gorgeous woollen blanket... for $5!  Which was amazing considering they've had a few blankies there but priced up to $25!

It's gorgeous and I cant decide if I have the heart to cut it up yet for other uses.  Perhaps if I find some more my attachment to it might become a little less?

A blue one

Following on from my trend of showing a sheet a week... here is a blue retro sheet found at the same time and place as the pink ones from last week...

Double size and gorgeous!  (It's much more "blue" and vibrant than the photo's suggest!)  May be the backing for H's quilt when I get there one day or something else perhaps?!

I'm sure you are getting the idea of why I was so freeking excited about these finds - all in one day!

One more to come next week.  Wish me luck as I hope to find more goodies in the meantime : )

Retro vintage sheet score

I'm still slowly pottering on putting together and making more blocks for the Modern Sampler Bee Blocks from last year.  I have one more block to make before I can put them all together to make a quilt for my big pink loving girl - whoohoo!

As such I have been keeping a very keen eye out for a lovely pinkish sheet to be the backing... but no luck, no luck, no luck, until the other week...!  Two days later I on a whim popped into the local Sally store and I just about pee'd my pants when I found these!

Perfect! They're single/king single size flat sheets.  One a bit more worn than the other but overall in fantastic shape.  I am still slightly giddy that I finally not only found the type of sheets I've been looking for forever, but that it was perfect for the quilt!

There were a few other items in this haul that added to the extreme excitement of the trip but I am saving those for the next couple of weeks!

A first, a find!

Yay yay - my first op-shop show off!!

I regularly run into the odd op-shop in the area - hoping desperately to find the odd gorgeous blanket or beautiful sheet.  Just never happens.  Until last week!  I am likely to be very boring in the next few posts as I will be spreading my good fortune out and making it last for as long as possible.

First up is this gorgeous sheet.  Pretty pattern, nice and big (a queen size I think), soft, great condition.  Love it!

Happy Tuesday Everyone : )
