Show & Tell: Nature Gathering

Hi lovely folk,

Show & Tell Thursday's

Here we are on the slippery slope to Christmas - less than a month to go!  What wonderful things are you creating for the silly season?

A number of months ago a friend and I got onto a bit of a tangent with all sorts of ideas... I wont go into detail but basically one of them led to the creation of this wee nature collection.

I had great fun making it up as I went and since then some of the items have been refined and improved.   It's been great fun playing around with ideas and refining patterns and techniques - hopefully there will be some time next year to make a few of these as gifts.  What do you think?  Would little people enjoy playing with it?

Where have tangents taken you before?

Thanks for stopping in and sharing your makings with us - cant wait to see what you've been up to!
Have a terrific Thursday!

Show & Tell: Zippitydoodah

Hi again :)
Show & Tell Thursday's
Thanks for stopping in - always nice to see a friendly face!

Zipper pouches and I haven't met much, but we've become better acquainted lately - they're great little gifts aren't they?  I've tried out a number of tutorials and they are all more or less the same. Though I would stress: push the zipper toward the outer fabric when you're up to the last bit of sewing right around the linings and outers!!

Another great trick I came across was to fold the edges at a 90 degree angle - as in this tutorial (which is also the one followed for the pink one pictured). It does seem to help things lie just a little bit neater and tidier : )

What wee tips and tricks have you learned lately? Do share!

Looking forward to seeing your makings this week - no doubt there will be one or two Christmassy ones too!
Happy Thursday Lovelies!

PS: I am on the hunt for some pretty summery girl dress patterns (Ages 3 to 6). Any recommendations?

Sowing Seeds

Last month we dug out an Seedling planter gift set and some Forget-Me-Not seeds and set to the garden.

Don't you love how exited children get about planting seeds and watching them grow?

Everyone helped to prepare the areas and made sure they had a patch to sow.

Lots of care, and sweet gentle hands : )

Sprinkled with water and a little love almost every day :)
We're still waiting to see them grow!  A fun, relaxing activity that provides heaps of learning and teamwork.  And it get's us out into fresh air :)

Hope you had a great weekend!

Show and Tell: The rest of the flock

Why hello there!

Show & Tell Thursday's

A couple of weeks ago I showed you the first installment of a collection of birds I'd been working on.  Here are the remainder of them - all designed by the legend that is Juliet :)
From top to bottom: Kea, Piwakawaka, Karearea, Kereru, Kokako.

I've also just finished two more birdies - though non NZ ones, which I'll share another time.  To say I'm a bit addicted to paper piecing birds would probably be a bit of an understatement :)

What is your current crafting/creating addiction?

Thanks for stopping in and linking up - always awesome to see what you talented folk have been up to!
Have a Thumper of a Thursday :)

Quiet Colouring

Hellooooo Monday!
Are there many children who dont like colouring/drawing?  We are a little mad for it around these parts.
During the holidays we printed off lots of free colouring pages - a great quiet activity to fill in pockets of time or hours at a time!

The girls went even further and created cover pages for the front and back and stapled them all together to form little colouring books.  We love watching their imaginations come to life in their artwork.

And nail-painting ... universal fun for old and young : )  Create a parlour of pillows, grab supplies and mum plays manicurist with funny talking, creams and stories darling :p
Then sit back and relax... : )

Hope you have a chillaxing week!

Show & Tell: A holder of hooks

Hello Lovely People,

Show & Tell Thursday's

How're you going at this busy time of year?  Winning? I hope!

A number of months ago a friend asked me to teach her to crochet... She's come leaps and bounds and is right into it : )

Then her birthday rolled along and I was at a loss as to what to give her...  then... Lightbulb!  I drew up some plans, raided my stash and set about making this crochet hook holder.

Lovely natural linen, pretty pixie fairies, flowery blue ribbon, lots of slots for the hooks in varying widths, a larger pocket for some scissors and a wee patch for pins and needles.  Fold it down, roll it up, tie and off you go!

Have you made practical items for carrying or storing your tools?  Do you use it all the time?  Would love to see/hear!

Have a happy Thursday buddies!
Always nice to have you play along and see what wonderful things you link up!

Rocking Paint

We've been saving up smooth rounded rocks for months!

And last month we finally got round to painting them.

And sometimes little eyes on top bring them to life even more : )  Love seeing all the different approaches and watching the various learnings these activities bring.

Have a wonderful week!
