Deeeelicious Blueberry Muffins

I've made these muffins 4 times in the last 2 weeks... The first 3 batches were gifted and the last batch has stayed home - much to the family's delight :)

Ingredients:
Muffin:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tsps baking powder
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 cup blueberries/raspberries
I added:
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp vanilla essence

Crump Topping:
- 1/2 cup white sugar (I used brown sugar)
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter, cubed
- 1 1/2 tsps ground cinnamon

Directions:
1.  Preheat oven to 200'C.  Grease muffin tray or use muffin liners/cups.
2.  Sift to combine the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.  Place the vegetable oil into a 1 cup measuring cup, add the egg and enough milk to fill the cup.  Mix this, along with the vanilla essence, with the flour mixture.  Fold in the berries (and choc chips).
3.  Crumb Topping:  Mix the sugar, flour, butter and cinnamon together with a fork or your fingers to create a crumbly mixture.
4.  Fill the muffin cups right to the top and sprinkle with the topping.
5.  Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the oven until done.

Knock knock...

Earlier this year I signed up for Kirsty's Stitched House Ornament Swap.

They are the cutest little houses - how could I resist?  It took me aaaages to finally get round to making one for my swap partner, the talented Linda.

Linda's favourite colours are blue, yellow, green, pink and purple, and I'd also noticed she'd recently tried her hand at some hexies...  I wanted to do something a bit unique for her, so the idea of making the "roof" section out of hexies was born.  They look a bit like tiles and eaves don't you think?  I didn't like my selection of numbers available so the front door got a bell instead, and it smells nice too as I popped some dried lavender in with the stuffing.  :)

It was hard to draw a line on where to stop with so many possible things to add or enhance.  It's endless!

I hope you love it as much as I do Linda!

Modern Sampler Bee: Block for Cat

I am definitely signing up for the second round of this Bee!  Here is lovely hostess Cat's block.  A great thing about the "modern" aspect of the bee is that anything goes!  Although the hexies require a lot of time and effort and prep, sewing them to the backing fabric was simple, quick and modern!

Have a beautiful day :)

Modern Sampler Bee: Block for Lisa

Many of the fabric bits I needed for the Bee came from Cat who had lots of perfectly coloured bits in her stash.      This was Lisa's block.  Received and loved - yay!

Dont forget to smile today!

Modern Sampler Bee: My Block

I completed my block a couple of days ago - whoopee!  The hexie blocks idea came from the book Block Party.  A great little book with lots of how to's, explanations and inspiration.  Our blocks are 12.5"x12.5" and the hexagons are 2" and 4" in size.

Have a great week!
