Not many more to go...

Recently I received two more blocks from the Modern Sampler Bee ladies.

This one from Cat:

And this one from Treena:

Love them!  Cant wait for the last few to arrive!  Once I have them all in my hot little hands I can start planning how to combine them all in a quilt for Anya.

This week I have also been loving:
- Disney's Cinderella becoming available after years and years.  I love love love animated movies and have never seen it!  The girls and I are thoroughly enjoying it.
- Finally catching up on the work front.
- I don't really care much about winning - I'm more about enjoying the experience, but I was happy to win a boardgame that has frustrated me immensely in the past :)
- Making progress on the Advent Swap goodies!
- Little sayings from the girls:  Anya is currently on an "actually" kick..., Liezel is in the "no" phase
- Conversation with Heidi: "Heidi can you please bend down for a second"; "I cant"; "What? Why cant you?"; "Because I'm too little"...
- Loving gorgeous gorgeous sunshiny days, and blowing bubbles outside.
- Crafting with friends - always a good time : )

Have a great weekend!

One + One = Two

I love my postie - even when he brings me bills he makes sure he also brings me some happy mail... :)

I received these two delights from Kelli in the mail last week - yay!

Thanks Kelli, we love them!
Not many more blocks to go before Round 2 and 3 are complete and I can then get working on bringing them together for a quilt for Anya.

Other stuff to smile about:
Monday:  a visit to the doctor proved we were full off flu viruses, infections and pneumonia... however Liezel was strutting around after observing the doc, pulling up her shirt or yanking at her singlet so that he could listen to her chest - so so cute.  And when he checked her throat she even did a "ahhh" : )
Tuesday:  My two big girls playing together almost all day without incident - a loving special bond and relationship that fills my heart with joy.
Wednesday:  Walking into Liezel's room first thing to discover she has managed to strip off her merino bag and pyjamas and was trying to work her way out of her singlet... what a sight : )

Happy Friday Eve Everyone!

Bee Blocks Round 3

Like many people I always seem to have more than one project on the go...  I am currently working on a Birthday Quilt, but before I started on it I decided to complete the bee blocks for Round 3 as they both need to be completed at the same time!

So here's what I sent the lovely ladies of Round 3... It's called "Missing your kiss" from the Modern Blocks book.

Kelli's Block

Treena's Block

Sharon's Block

Cat's Block

At this stage I'm not even thinking about Round 4.  I'm stalking our postie instead and working on the birthday quilt.  I'll be back at some point with a progress update on that one too!

A pinch and a punch for the first of the month!

Clouds

Miserable dreadfully dreary weather days here lately...
But Loving this song - beautiful lyrics:

The mailman has also brought these blocks from round 2 of the Bee to our letterbox over the last couple of weeks:

From Nin

From Debra

From Lisa

Round 3 is in full swing too and have loved it!

Then finally, the happy diary:
Monday: Listening properly to the song above - the lyrics resonating with me.
Tuesday: Liezel actively playing with her sisters and initiating games like trying to get them to chase her.  Too cute :)

Happy Humpday Everyone!

Modern Sampler Bee - Round 3

It's time! Round 2 is drawing to a close at the end of June and I am well overdue to get things organised for Round 3... I have valid excuses I assure you but will go into those a little later :)

So - Round 3 for the Modern Sampler Bee will commence in July with blocks to be completed and sent by the end of September.

We are making and sending to each other 12.5" x 12.5" identical Blocks of OUR choice in the colour choice of the individual BEE members out of our fabrics.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two rounds and am looking forward to this one.  If you'd like to join in the fun, leave a comment or email me or Cat.  Go on... you know you want to!

Looking forward to hearing from you lovely people!
Have a great weekend :)

Blocks, blocks and more blocks

I've been a bit occupied with blocks lately...

This one I tried today - my first attempt at paper piecing... I definitely need more practise though before I feel like I've got the hang of it!

These next to for a friend of Cat, who's making a star block quilt.  While at it I tried my hand at appliqué and blanket stitching! Thanks for the tips guys! With a bit more practise I'll get them looking more uniform!

And these two in the mail for the Bee.
From Juliet:

and from Angelique:

I am looking forward to laying all the blocks out and see how it might look!  I've also decided that I'll turn it into a quilt for my eldest who turns 5 next year.  She already loves helping Mummy with all the blocks and putting them together!

Hope all is well in your worlds!

Blah

Before the manic birthdays begun a couple of Fridays ago I snuck in this one last block before focussing on my real priorities...

Criss-Cross Triangles
I like it : )

A lot has happened in this time and there are many things I want to/don't want to write about at the same time.  It's tricky as I am caught between wanting to air thoughts and feelings but I don't want to feel like being perceived as whining and moaning... Blah.

In the meantime my sewing mojo is in limbo, so is the blogging one and many other things really.  Blah.

I have music playing all day everyday and wherever I go (mostly).  One thing I have recently discovered that is not Blah is Lana Del Rey - bought the album over the weekend and haven't stopped listening to it... Epic, beautiful, haunting, soulful...

With that I bid you adieu...

Lately...

Life has been super busy...  and in the next week, starting on Friday we have 6 birthdays!!  Next week is going to be crazy busy and I still have to decide on cakes and what not for my two!  I have booked a massage for the following week and am HANGING out for it already...

Amidst all the work there has been some play.  On Saturday night 5 of us went out for a bloggy dinner and it was so much fun!  These bunch of ladies are fantastic and I loved meeting Deb and Lisa.  You can read about our evening here, here and here.

The last few evenings I've also done a bit of sewing.  I've borrowed Cat's Modern Blocks book and am slowly going to work my way through it and will have a go at the blocks that I like the look of.  Except for the first one, the other 3 are the results so far.  I doubt I'll have much time for anything in the next couple of weeks!

And I have finally bought a quilting ruler.  I am in love with it - she's my new best friend : )
Alleyways - not a big fan of this one...

Best Friend

Blue Lagoon

Hope you're all having a fantastically amazing week so far!

Juliet, Cat, Sharon, Kelli, Nin & Debra

Cant wait to see what the mail-man brings me!

Modern Sampler Bee - Round 2!!

Soon it will seem as if I have no life other than making Quilting Bee blocks!  I promise my 3 children and husband are still mostly alive and looked after :)

I've signed up for Round 2 of Cat's Modern Sampler Bee.  I've also offered/suggested/asked to be in both groups so there'll be lots of blocks being made!  Whoopee!!

The two groups are:

Modern Sampler Bee: Block for Cat

I am definitely signing up for the second round of this Bee!  Here is lovely hostess Cat's block.  A great thing about the "modern" aspect of the bee is that anything goes!  Although the hexies require a lot of time and effort and prep, sewing them to the backing fabric was simple, quick and modern!

Have a beautiful day :)

Modern Sampler Bee: Block for Lisa

Many of the fabric bits I needed for the Bee came from Cat who had lots of perfectly coloured bits in her stash.      This was Lisa's block.  Received and loved - yay!

Dont forget to smile today!

Nin had the most interesting colour choices for the Bee - but I loved how much I loved it once it all came together!
